My First Infographic made with Piktochart
The advantages for using visuals like infographics are that the students get immediate information paired with pictures and any other information added to it. This can get the students engaged rather quickly with the subject on the infographic. What I liked about this was the creative part. Being able to put together a poster with subject matter that I enjoy was actually fun. I think this would be something that I would use in my classroom. There really was not anything that I didn't like about this activity. I used the Piktochart app and it was a first for me. It was fairly easy to use and had many templates to get started on. I used pictures that I had in a folder and that was easy to upload to the app. Adding them to the actual project was easy as well, the app has a drag and drop feature so that makes it nice when adding photos. I have used Canva before and that is what I can compare it to. Piktochart compared to Canva is the winner for me. It was easier to use and a far better platform in my opinion. This is a pretty cool way to make custom posters for the classroom and I think that is a great way to put your personal touches onto your space. I also think the students would appreciate that level of care that the teacher is putting into educating them.
This was an easy activity once I got started and after I watched a quick YouTube video on how to use the Piktochart app. As I got started making my graphic I realized that this app is very user friendly and if you make a mistake it has an undo button so that makes it easy to correct miss steps. The templates are super easy to use and provide a really good guide for creating a unique infographic. Piktograph is a free app to use however, it does have in app purchases if you feel the need to upgrade and have total access to better content. This was a good activity and I will be using infographics in the future.
